Deleting your Pausa account and data
In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account.
Without the app: write to bych2007@gmail.com from your account's email address, subject “Delete my account”. Done within 30 days.
Before you delete: cancel an active subscription in the App Store or Google Play — deleting the account does not cancel it (§5).
1. Deleting your account from inside the app
Pausa can be used without an account. If you never signed in, nothing you created was sent to us: it lives on your device only, and uninstalling the app removes it.
If you did create an account, you can delete it yourself, at any time, without contacting us:
- open Pausa
- go to Settings → Account
- tap “Delete account” and confirm
Before anything is deleted, the app asks you to confirm your sign-in: always if you signed in with Apple; with Google or email, only if your last sign-in was more than a few minutes ago. The app then erases your cloud data first, checks that nothing is left, and deletes your sign-in account last, and shows the progress while it works. If you signed in with Apple, it also asks Apple to revoke the app's access to your Apple ID. If it cannot finish — for example the connection drops halfway — it stops before deleting the account, tells you so, and you can run it again; a repeat continues from where it stopped. This is deliberate: an account that is gone while its data is still there would be the worst possible outcome.
2. If you no longer have the app installed
Write to bych2007@gmail.com from the email address of your Pausa account, with “Delete my account” in the subject line. If you signed in with Apple and Apple gave us a private relay address, write from that relay address, or include it in the message.
We ask for the account address because it is the only thing that lets us tell your account from somebody else's. We do not ask for any document or photo.
We confirm the deletion by email and complete it no later than 30 days after the request, normally within a few days. You do not need to reinstall the app.
3. What is deleted
Deleting your account removes, permanently and without a way to undo it:
- your diary entries and notes — the text exactly as you wrote it
- your state check-ins: the levels you picked and when you picked them
- your activity history: which practices, tools and journey steps you completed, and the counters derived from them
- your profile and settings: nickname, avatar, language, theme, date and time format, which reminders are switched on and at what time, achievements
- any device records for notifications left by earlier versions of the app (the current version does not create them)
- if you asked us for a free code while signed in: the record of each request (your account identifier, language, app version, platform and the time) and the counter with the times of your last two requests
- your sign-in account itself: the email address, the identifier your provider passed to us, and the account identifier everything above was stored under
On the device you are using, the app also erases at the same time its local copy of your diary, check-ins and activity history, the role and situation you chose and everything created in them, your profile and achievements, and cancels the reminders already scheduled. If you used Pausa on another device and are still signed in there, that device keeps its own local copy until you delete the app on it or delete the data there.
4. What is not deleted, and for how long it is kept
Four things outlive account deletion. We would rather name them here than let you find out later.
- Feedback you sent us from inside the app — your rating, any section ratings, your answers to “Tell us why” and the comment field, with your account identifier, the app version, platform, language and the time you sent it. The same applies to any email you sent us, including the letter asking for a free code. It is stored separately from your account data, and account deletion does not remove it. Ask us and we will delete it too: write to bych2007@gmail.com.
- Payment records. Purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and the subscription status reaches the app through RevenueCat. Apple, Google and RevenueCat keep their own records of a transaction under their own policies and retention periods; we cannot delete those, and neither can you through us. We never had your card number or billing address in the first place.
- Diagnostics, but only if you had switched them on: analytics events and crash reports sit in Google Firebase and are deleted on the retention schedule configured for the project, not by your account deletion. Analytics events contain no diary text, no check-in levels and no email address. We do not put your entries, check-in levels or email into crash reports either, but a crash report carries the technical message of the failure, and we cannot promise that such a message never quotes a fragment of what you were writing when the app broke. Diagnostics are off until you turn them on.
- Choices you made for the device rather than told about yourself: language, theme, date and time format, whether you finished the onboarding, and your diagnostics decision; and the app's technical state on that device, such as whether notifications are allowed, whether a purchase was confirmed on it, the country of your App Store or Google Play account, and the price and state of billing reminders. They stay on the device until you uninstall the app.
5. Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription
This is the one that catches people out. A Pausa subscription is billed by the App Store or by Google Play, not by us, and we have no way to stop their billing. If you delete your account while a subscription is active, it keeps renewing and you keep being charged.
Cancel it first, in the store that charges you:
- iPhone or iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Pausa → Cancel Subscription
- Android: Google Play → profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Pausa → Cancel subscription
Cancelling stops future renewals; access usually continues until the end of the period you already paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple and Google under their own rules, not by us.
6. Questions
Anything about deletion, about a request that seems to have gone unanswered, or about a difference between this page and what the app does: bych2007@gmail.com.
What we collect and why is described in the Privacy Policy, which is the same text you can read inside the app.
